- Source: https://www.crossroadsinitiative.com/media/articles/boast-only-of-the-lord/ (Office of Readings English); Greek via puritanboard.com (secondary)
Office of Readings English: “we take no pride in our own righteousness but acknowledge that we are utterly lacking in true righteousness and have been made righteous only by faith in Christ.”
- Context: An exposition of 1 Cor 1:30–31 and Phil 3:9 on the theme of boasting. The English comes from a Catholic liturgical text and the Greek from a Protestant forum, which gives independent corroboration from both sides. Note that the section is §3, not §20 as in my plan.

ICO S1: On the Holy Spirit 18.45

- Text: “Because we speak of a king, and of the king’s image, and not of two kings … because the honour paid to the image passes on to the prototype. Now what in the one case the image is by reason of imitation, that in the other case the Son is by nature”.
- Context: The context is Trinitarian: the Son as the Father’s image, compared with an emperor’s portrait. It is not about church icons. John of Damascus and Nicaea II later apply it to icons.
